assam rape protestIt is almost a year since the brutal gang-rape and murder of a young woman on a bus in Delhi.  Yet, despite new laws,  the scale of violence on women has gone from bad to worse in India.

On Nov 25, in Lakhimpur, Assam, a young women was gang-raped and brutally killed in a manner that evokes the horrific memories of the Delhi rape and murder.

At 1 p.m. she boarded a tempo to go collect her 6-year-old girl from school.  In broad daylight, four men inside the tempo gang-raped her, beat her up with a metal rod or some such object, gouged her eyes out, and threw her out of the vehicle just 50 meters from the police station.  She was taken to the hospital, where she died of her injuries.

No arrests have been made so far, even protests gather momentum and  women’s groups block the National Highways.

Reblogged this on Karma Life Readings and commented:
What is it about women that turn men into beasts. I think deep down many men are afraid of the inner power of women. . . the greater ability to love, and the potential for women surpassing men in Wisdom. Wise-blood. Mother-wit. That’s what scares them.

The death punishment on the original gangrapes in Delhi must be delivered. Otherwise the perpetrators of these crimes would never learn. The tourism in India has already suffered a lot. Do they want the whole country to go under?
