Grandmother Smokes: Comment on This

May 29, 2010

The 50MM flickr photo gallery is supported by more than 2500 photographers from around the world.  We have 16000+ photos of Indian girls and women in this pool.  Each face is symbolic of a girl or woman who should have been living in India today but was eliminated at some stage of life.

Here we present an endearing portrait of a smoking Indian grandmother by Arif Siddiqui . Arif also has one of the most extensive photo documentation of some of the least known tribes of North-Eastern India.

We invite you to share your thoughts below in our comment box on this photo.  What sort of a person do you imagine this lady to be? What kind of life do you think she has led?  Is she married?  Does she have children and grandchildren?  What might her philosophy in life be?
